EU Commission proposes major Customs Reform as from 1 January 2028
On 17 May 2023, the European Commission presented its proposals for a far-reaching reform of the Union’s customs legislation. In addition to e-commerce, the proposed changes primarily concern the collection and evaluation of data by EU customs authorities. The implementation of the changes is planned for the period from 2028 to 2038. However, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union still have to give their consent.
